Hi Everyone,
It actually felt like Spring today. Believe it got up to 62 degrees and the pond at the rear of my office building is finally showing some open water. Of course, we also appear to have open water in our back yard where some of the snow has melted…we still have quite a bit of snow cover on the ground. And a relief – the forecasters seem to have removed snow from the forecast for Thursday.
How wonderful to have seen the earlier posts on the Quilt! Isn’t it beautiful? I only wish I could have been there in person to watch you, Nicola, open it up. Elaine, Krista & Jo – kudos to all of you on a fabulous surprise. And, Elaine, the quilt is stunning.
I haven’t been able to do a lot of stitching recently, but I’ve managed to make a modest bit of progress on the two SL samplers I am working on. First up: Elizabeth Mitchell. This is the one I am stitching using AVAS threads (1 over 2) on 40 count Wood Smoke fabric. My eyes have a bit of difficulty with this, but the past weekend was brilliantly sunny and I discovered it is so much easier to work on in natural light (duh, right?). So, I managed to finish the top border and start down the right side. First an overall shot and then a close up of the right upper hand corner (difficult to see the pale green in the overall shot):
Next up is the Scottish Sampler Circa 1740. This I am stitching in DMC on 32 count fabric. Much easier in the early mornings with my coffee before work. Again, an overall shot and then a close-up. The row under the crowns is actually supposed to be groups of 4 cross stitches, but I decided to do each group as a Smyrna cross for a change. I like the way it has turned out.
Hoping to get a bit of stitching in tonight and much more over the weekend. Here’s hoping Winter is behind us and everyone is enjoying a bit of Spring.
